CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (BIOPROCESS)
Many positions are currently going unfilled nationwide because the industry cannot find enough technicians to fill their job openings. Opportunities for advancement in the field of biotechnology are excellent for those who keep abreast with the rapid changes occurring in this field. Employees who are curious, investigate and adaptable in their attitudes quickly become more valuable and earn higher salaries, while those who content to ride on their education may soon find that their skills and knowledge are out of date and out of demand.
Bioprocess/Biosystem technicians sometimes advance to supervisory of management positions if they show themselves to be highly effective, organized and skilled in supervisory task as well. Technicians who wish to advance should look upon their technical education as a springboard for continued learning.
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT
The programme involves water and air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, and public health issues. Graduates from this programme conduct hazardous-waste management studies to evaluate the significance of the such hazards, advise on treatment and containment, and develop regulations to prevent mishaps.
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(FOOD)
Our graduates have unlimited oppurtunities in getting jobs either in public or private sectors. In public sectors they may work at food related government bodies like Department of Health, Educational Institutions, MARDI, SIRIM, MPOB and others. They may join various industries like cereal manufacturing, bakery products, sugar refinery, manufacturing of flour-based sweetening agent, chocolate and confectionary products, fish processing, milk and dairy products, fruits and vegetable products, canning industry, edible oils and its products and beverages. The scope of career may vary from production supervisors, quality assurance supervisors, technicians, assistant chemist, R&D assistants, operators and others.
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(POLYMER)
Polymer technology can be described in brief as the manufacture, processing, analysis and application of long chain molecules. Materials that are typically classified as polymers include: plastics, paints, rubber, foams, adhesives, sealants, varnishes etc. Our daily life today is fully controlled by these materials that it is impossible to imagine life as we know it without these products. Industries that are totally dependent on polymers include information technology, aerospace, music, clothing, medical, motor manufacturing, building, packaging and many more.
The objective of the programme at UniKL MICET is to provide students with training in polymer technology at a semi-professional level. The programme covers the principles and operating of machines, characterization, instrumentation, fabrication processes and the compounding of polymeric materials. The course prepare students for a career in the polymer and related industries or, if already employed in the industry, to improve their effectiveness and career prospects; the course focuses on full integration of the theory and practice of polymer engineering; it develops experience and understanding of the practical aspects of polymer engineering essential for those with technological careers. The programme is designed to meet the educational needs of its graduate and professional students; to provide lifelong learning opportunities in the study of polymeric materials; to assists Malaysian industry in developing polymer technology; and to develop knowledge base on polymeric materials and to disseminate this knowledge on a global basis. UniKL MICET provides the students with a multifaceted programme that bridges traditional academic disciplines. Our students receive outstanding educational and practical experiences tailored to individual needs and responsive to the ever-changing technological and scientific needs of society.
