Programme Brief

The Mechatronics programme is an inter-disciplinary field involving control systems, electronic systems, computers, robotics, and mechanical systems. The skills are highly needed for the Mechatronics technologist in the automated manufacturing processes to control product quality while applying a combination of technologies needed to ensure machine effectiveness, reliability and user friendliness.

The integration of mechanical and electronic components, or Mechatronics that blends knowledge in electronics, mechanics, and computer programming to provide both the theory and practical skills to inspect, diagnose, repair, service, install, design and maintain automated systems.

In this programme, the students will be able to attain the technical know-how in installing, repairing and maintaining various types of automation equipment and know-why in designing efficient, reliable and versatile mechatronics systems such as automated assembly lines, industrial robots, transportation, building automation & control systems, packaging machines, medical equipment, etc.

Programme Brief

Electronics & Information Technology programme equips students with a profound knowledge and skills of electronic circuits and systems knowledge of telecommunications and computer controlled systems needed to meet the 21 st century industrial demands . The student will be able to design and build electronic and computer based systems and thus, preparing them for work in the high-tech industry.

Students will acquire more in-depth knowledge and practical application of microprocessor, interface design, micro controller systems, local area network, radio frequency (RF), telecommunication system, data communications system and network administration. In addition, the programme also integrates communicative and thinking skills, project management, entrepreneurship, learning and interpersonal skills so that the students are prepared to face the rapid changes of IT technology.

Programme Brief

This programme provides knowledge and hands-on skills for designing,building, operating and enhancing sustainable energy systems that combine energy generation, distribution and utilization that caters to the demands of technologies in green energy and electrical power for applications and services in buildings, industry and transportation.

The student will acquire the skills in installation, testing & commissioning, and maintenance to ensure systems safety, reliability and efficiency for renewable energy technologies, particularly solar and wind power, which are the fastest growing sources of electricity besides geothermal and biomass systems.

The requirements for certifying the distributed renewable energy systems will also be emphasized to ensure that the graduate is  prepared for system installer certification which is required by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA).

Programme Brief

This programme will give a broad introduction to Building Automation System (BAS) in the scope of facilities and smart building that takes all aspects of the building (control system for HVAC, security, access control, surveillance, lighting, etc.) and occupant needs into consideration to maximize energy efficiency & convenient and make management of the facility simpler, safe and secured.

This practical oriented programme is designed to equip the graduates with skills to perform building utilities installation and maintenance activities including digital controls, sensing and measurement, actuation, analog output devices, and relays. Data communication protocol for building automation and control network is discussed including web interfaces, field devices, Human Machine Interface (HMI) to a wide variety of equipment types from individual subsystem to fully integrated intelligent building.

Facilities and building automation technologist requires competencies in BAS design and specification, energy conservation control strategies, system maintenance, current and future trends in building automation technology.

Programme Brief

Process Instrumentation & Control Diploma in Engineering Technology provides students with sound theoretical and practical training in the operation and maintenance of automated process control and measurement systems to maintain a consistent product output. It is the art and science of measurement and control of process variables within a production, laboratory, or manufacturing area in the instance of typical process variables namely temperature, pressure, level and flow of industrial reactors may be controlled.

Student will install control equipment and use computer-based control systems including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS) to monitor variables like flow, temperature, pressure, level and flow to ensure equipment and systems are functioning correctly, safely and at peak performance. The application software in instrumentation, process control systems design, Fieldbus™ SCADA, and interfacing of industrial microcomputer control systems with real processes are used in the laboratory facilities found in various sectors, including power production, oil and gas refining, processing, transportation, fertilizer production, pulp and paper, wood processing, petrochemical processing, food processing, mining and manufacturing.

Programme Brief

The Autotronics is referred to as modern automotive technology and also commonly known as Automotive Mechatronics. Autotronics is the combination of automobile and electronics while hybrid refers to technology that uses two or more distinct power sources to move the vehicle. It deals with computer controlled  motor vehicle systems such as Engine Control Unit (ECU-airbag, engine, ABS) , engine management , electronic transmission, GPS-based navigation system, stability management system, instrumentation, infotainment, etc.

The programme provides an in-depth understanding of electronic control systems and vehicle sub-systems operation of various computer controlled motor vehicle systems in networked system (CAN Bus and LIN Bus system) . The student will also acquire knowledge and skills on automotive electronic problem-solving techniques using state-of-the-art testing and diagnostic equipment to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronics system used in various automotive vehicles.
